Thinking Outside the Box for the High Holidays

While Rosh Hashanah is a constant, this year most of us will be celebrating the Jewish New Year very differently than we may have in the past. For many parents, that means finding ways to bring the holiday to life for their kids, and our PJ Library program has just the thing.

This year, PJ Library has partnered with local synagogues to make it easier than ever for kids to have a fun, meaningful and memorable Rosh Hashanah by bringing in community partners together to distribute free Rosh Hashanah boxes for kids across Metro Vancouver.

Each box will be customized for every family to ensure there are supplies for each child, and will contain arts and crafts projects, recipes, games, home celebration ideas, and more.

The boxes are available to families in all of Greater Vancouver’s Jewish communities. Pickup is simple; each family will be able to collect their box from one of the participating synagogues or organizations before Rosh Hashanah, starting on September 7th.

Parents can learn more about the program and register for their boxes here. The deadline for registration is August 31st. Quantities are limited, so make sure to sign up early.

Jewish Federation, PJ Library and our outreach program, Connect Me In, are proud to partner with Beth Hamidrash, Beth Israel, Beth Tikvah, Har El, Or Sholom, Schara Tzedeck, Temple Sholom, and The Bayit, BI Neighbourhoods, and East Side Jews.
