What is in your kit?

Each kit contains projects, designed to be completed over 8 weeks.  Projects range from planting, to making a challah, to organizing a food collection drive with your neighbours.   For projects requiring supplies each kit has enough supplies for one child.

How do we complete the projects?

Projects are DIY and each comes with a set of instructions.  Families work at a pace appropriate for them.  You can spend 8 weeks doing the projects or finish everything in 1-2 weeks.

How many of my own items will I need to supply for each project?

Each kit comes with some of the supplies for each project but not with everything.  For example, the challah baking kit will include yeast and honey but you will need to provide flour and eggs.  For making a cat bed to donate, the kit will include the fleece but you will need to provide an old t-shirt for stuffing it.  Wherever possible we tried to include supplies that we did not think you would have at home and rely on you for the smaller items that most young families have like crayons and markers, empty plastic bottles, scissors, cardboard etc.

When do I need to order by and when will I receive my kit?

Kits will be available all summer but we have a limited supply so I recommend ordering early.   Once we run out we will not have the supplies to make extra kits.  Kits ordered before June 23 will either be left on your porch or sent to you by mail.   Kits ordered between June 23 and July 20 will need to be picked up from the JCC.  If there are any remaining kits after July 20 we will be able to deliver to them your porch.

I love this idea and would like to know how I can let others know about it?  We would love to see pics of your family engaging in our projects.  Please post them to Facebook and Instagram with the  hashtag #summerofmitzvotvan

And of course, let people know you got your kit from PJ Library.
