#TogetherForChoices2020

It’s a night of celebration, connection, and inspiration. It also happens to be the community’s biggest women’s event of the year. Join us for Choices on November 8, 2020!

Now in its 16th year, Choices brings together hundreds of Jewish women, all of whom have made a choice to support our community, be it through their volunteerism, professional work, engagement, or financial gift. This year’s event, which is taking place virtually for the first time, recognizes the power of women’s individual and collective contributions.

Sue Hector and Shawna Merkur, Women’s Philanthropy co-chairs, have both held many leadership positions and have first-hand experience with the personal and communal rewards that come with community engagement. Hear them talk about the impact of women’s philanthropy and its role in fostering connection.

Guests are Making a Bigger Impact
Kol hakavod and todah rabah to the Choices guests who have chosen to donate the $54 they would have paid for dinner at an in-person Choices to Jewish Federation’s Community Recovery Fund. To date, more than $5,000 has been raised, which is testament to women’s commitment to recovery and a vibrant tomorrow.

#TogetherForChoices2020
Since the event is online this year, we’re looking for new ways to bring people together. Post a photo on Facebook or Instagram using #TogetherForChoices2020 and tag the people you wish you could be with in person.

One thing that never changes is the caibre of the speakers whose passion, commitment and initiative are an inspiration to all.

Keynote Speaker
Michelle Hirsch played an instrumental role in helping with the Houston Jewish community’s initial recovery after the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in 2017. From her home in Cleveland, she mobilized her extensive Jewish network and created an Amazon wish list, which resulted in an outpouring of prompt and generous relief for those hard-hit by the natural disaster.

A longtime active community leader, Michelle is currently a member of Jewish Federations of North America’s National Women’s Philanthropy Board and also serves on the Board of the Jewish Agency for Israel North America and as Chair of Cleveland’s Women In Philanthropy.

Community Speaker
Hannah Amar is a mom in our community, whose compelling life story of overcoming adversity through strength, resourcefulness and positivity is a shining portrait of resilience. Hannah turned to our partner agencies when she needed support. With their help, she has carved out a full life for herself and her two boys that reminds us of what’s possible when community comes together.
