Meet Kyra Morris, Chair, Axis Steering Committee

How has getting involved with Axis impacted you?

Getting involved with Axis has enabled me to advocate for our young Jewish professional community within Jewish Federation. By supporting and uplifting young adults, the Axis committee has helped them integrate into the Greater Vancouver Jewish community and has kept young adults connected during this unprecedented time.

What initiatives do you see as top priorities for young adults?

During COVID, it’s been so important to help keep young adults connected. We aim to reach the young professional Jewish community who do not normally attend events and increase their involvement. However, we also cater events to all individuals whether it be locals, the Israeli community, or those who have just moved to Vancouver. We have been working hard to keep the momentum going with our activities during the pandemic, while at the same time keeping in mind people’s comfort levels. Tell us about a favourite memory or experience you have had working with other volunteers on the Federation board?

I joined the Federation Board during remote meetings. The Board was so welcoming and made me feel a part of the team. It is great working with and learning from inspiring leaders in our community.

What do you have to say to young adults interested in getting involved?

Please don’t be shy! The more the merrier! If you’d like to get involved please subscribe to our email newsletter, or contact Aluma, our young adults community engagement manager to get you connected.
