Discovering Israel: A Virtual Sampler

While you may not be able to visit Israel right now, you can still discover its incredible sights and rich culture. Jewish Federation’s Israel and Global Engagement department has organized a series of fun and stimulating virtual events to help transport you there.

The Israel Challenge

December 8, 2020 | 8:00 p.m.  

Calling all young adults: if you missed your chance to go to Israel this past spring, this ‘trip’ is for you. Pack your appetite for adventure and get set to explore Israel in this game of Virtual Escape Room. Travel from southern Israel to our partnership region in the north, solving riddles that get you from one destination to the next. Prizes will be given to whoever completes the trip with the highest scores and in the shortest amount of time.

The game starts on October 8 at 4:00 p.m. and ends on December 8 at 8:00 p.m.

Israel Trivia Night
Thursday, October 15, 2020 | 7:00 p.m.

Put your knowledge of Israel to the test! This Israel-themed trivia contest, hosted by popular Vancouver trivia night and pub host, IQ 2000, is an excellent opportunity to prove your intellectual prowess and knack for knowing unusual tidbits. Assemble your family, friends and favourite Israel experts to play as a team. Contestants with the top three scores will each win a fabulous prize.

Krav Maga Workshop for Young Adults

Learn about Krav Maga from three-time Israeli national champion Niv Goffman. Born on Kibbutz Kfar Szold in our partnership region, Niv has been practicing this Israeli martial art since his early teens and has some stories to tell, starting with his service in the Israel Defence Forces and his career as a medaled athlete. Niv will also demonstrate special moves for Krav Maga enthusiasts.

The Israeli Shuk: Cooking in Pita

Join renowned Israeli chef Einat Abramovitch Partin for this fun cooking class, where she’ll share favourite recipes, cooking tips and inspiring literary texts to bring the flavours and festivities of Israeli’s lively shuk (markets) and delicious street food to your kitchen.
