15 Years of Choices

This November we will mark 15 years of celebrating the enduring impact of Women’s Philanthropy at Choices. Each year nearly 500 women come together to be inspired, and to celebrate the power of the choices women make to support our community through Federation Annual Campaign.

Join us in celebration of this milestone on Sunday, November 3rd to hear from Dr. Sima Goel, author of Fleeing the Hijab: A Jewish Woman’s Escape from Iran and from Grace Miller-Day, an incredible young woman from our community.

The Girl who Crossed the World’s Most Dangerous Desert

Dr. Sima Goel was a teenager living in early 1980’s Iran – until she crossed the most dangerous desert in the world at age 13. Her quest for freedom is as thrilling as it is timely. Dr. Goel’s message is critically important today, as hundreds of thousands of people from all corners of the planet seek the chance to immigrate to places where they, too, can follow their dreams, act on their ambitions, and live free from social restriction and political oppression.

Fighting Anti-Semitism on Campus and Refusing to Back Down

Grace Miller-Day is a young woman in our community who recently graduated from McGill University. In her third year, she volunteered on the “Vote No to BDS” student campaign. They lost the vote, and when it was all over a stranger followed her home, slinging anti-Semitic slurs the entire time. Grace refused to back down. Over the next few years she was involved with Israel on Campus as the VP External, and during her final year as President. Her work during this time created lasting changes.
