Connect with Community in Burnaby and New Westminster

With nearly half of our community now living outside of Vancouver, you can expect to see more and more Jewish programs taking place in locations like New Westminster, Mission, Abbotsford, Squamish, Langley, Surrey, the Tri-Cities and more.

Our Regional Communities Task Force, led by co-chairs Shelley Ail and Marnie Goldberg, has produced a report on how we can provide a framework for strengthening and enhancing Jewish communal life throughout the Lower Mainland.

Based on the programs ideas generated through our online survey, Orly Naim, our manager of community development, has been busy planning and delivering Jewish programming throughout the regional communities as part of our Connect Me In initiative. It is often in partnership with other organizations located in the regional communities and assisted by the ShinShinim (teen emissaries from Israel) who provide an Israel focus to the programming. Highlights include Shabbat potluck dinners, High Holidays and Chanukah family events, Purim parties and adult education events.

Connect to Judaism and to your community in an open-minded and inspiring environment. Each session will be led by a different Rabbi or educator who will bring their own perspectives on various Jewish topics. This next session will be led by Rabbi Yechiel Baitelman of Chabad Richmond.
