This spring, join the Axis community on the trip of a lifetime to Budapest and Israel. If you are a Jewish young adult in your 20s or 30s, this is your chance to travel with like-minded peers, hear insider briefings from top leaders, take part in hands-on volunteer projects and experience the richness of Jewish life abroad.

Your mission (should you choose to accept) runs from April 23 to May 5, 2017 and includes four nights in Budapest and seven nights in Israel. You will experience everything from exploring city landmarks by bicycle, mastering Hungarian cooking, and grabbing drinks in the “ruin pubs” of Budapest’s old Jewish quarter, to celebrating Israel’s Independence Day in Israel and meeting Israeli youth whose lives have been changed by the work of Vancouver’s Jewish community.

Your Reason to Join
This mission is more than your chance for a change of scenery. It has been designed to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the world and your place in it as a young Jewish leader. It’s an opportunity to do something you believe in, make relationships that last long after you return home and be a part of something bigger than yourself.

A lot bigger! You will deepen your connection to a Jewish community that spans the globe and discover how a commitment to social justice is rooted in the ancient Jewish values of tikkun olam (repair of the world) and chesed (loving-kindness). You will experience firsthand the vital, and often life-saving, impact of the Jewish world—including Vancouver’s own Jewish community—on a global scale.

Your Investment

The cost for the mission is $2,500, which has been generously subsidized by Jewish Federation. This includes accommodation, most meals, airfare from Budapest to Israel, and all guided tours and briefings. The flights from Vancouver to Budapest and from Israel back to Vancouver are not included.

This amount can be paid in installments, and plans to get group rates for the bookend flights are already in the works.

What to Do Next
Start by registering here! Your $100 registration fee is refundable or can go toward your trip payment.

A $500 non-refundable portion is due by October 31, 2016, with the remaining balance due by February 28, 2017.

Invite Your Friends and Family
If this trip isn’t for you, but sounds like the perfect opportunity for someone you know, please let them know about it. If you have a young adult in your life who is hard to shop for, a contribution toward this experience would make a special Hannukah gift for someone you love.
