Employment Type: Part-time contract

Reporting to: The role reports to Matthew Carter (JWest Project CEO). It also involves working with Bill Levine (Chair of JWest Foundation), David Porte (Chair of JWest Development Corp.) and other Committee Chairs.

About JWest:
The Jewish community of Greater Vancouver is embarking on the largest communal project in our history- JWest. JWest begins with a rejuvenation of the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver, King David High School and the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre, and is followed by the development of two towers of residential housing, a portion of which will be below market. JWest will establish a vibrant epicentre of Jewish culture in Canada's third-largest Jewish community.

The Role:
The Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, a key partner of the exciting JWest project, is seeking a Board Coordinator to support the governance of the JWest project and, specifically, to its two operating entities - JWest Foundation and JWest Development Corp.

Key Responsibilities:
• Schedules Board and Committee Meetings.
• Prepares agendas and supporting materials for Board and Committee Meetings.
• Creates comprehensive agendas, incorporating input from executive leadership and Chairs.
• Prepares Minutes from Board and Committee Meetings.
• Maintains Board/Committee filing system.
• Responds to governance/administrative information requests from Board and Committee Chairs and/or Members.

Required Skills/ Helpful Experience:
• Related education/training or work experience in an administration role (Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant, Office Coordinator, etc.)
• Experience as a Board/Corporate Secretary or in a similar governance role to be considered an asset.
• Understanding of corporate governance practices and experience working with volunteer boards to be considered an asset.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Competence in using relevant software and tools for virtual meetings, document management, and communication (Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, Doodle, Microsoft 365, Google Suite, etc.).
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost professionalism.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with Directors and Committee members.
