The JFS Grocery Program (formerly the Jewish Food Bank) serves over 1000 people of all religions and cultures who are experiencing food insecurity. We provide access to culturally appropriate, high quality and nutritious food. We focus on providing proteins, grains, and fresh fruits and veggies, which includes providing kosher options to those who need it.
The JFS Grocery Program operates differently than a Food Bank:
● There are no line-ups for food
● We support the right to choose food that is right for you and your family.
○ We offer an online ordering system where clients can customize orders to meet their dietary needs
● We do not require proof of income, those seeking support do not need to prove they need food.
● Our Grocery Program orders contain carefully selected high-quality produce and perishable items
○ Every order includes perishable proteins, grains, and an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables.
● We offer opportunities for all community members to give back and be part of the community.
○ Clients are welcomed and encouraged to volunteer and help shape our programs.
The JFS Grocery Program operates hubs to serve the community across the Lower Mainland:
● Vancouver: JFS Kitchen & Peretz Centre
● North Shore: Har El
● Surrey: Surrey Centre for Judaism
● Burnaby: Burnaby-Deer Lake Constituency Office
● Tri-cities: Burquest
● Richmond: Beth Tikvah & The Bayit
