Yom Hashoah features a survivor speaker and a musical program. It is held on the day closest to the designated date on the Jewish calendar.
Yom HaShoah is the day on which the Jewish communities around the world mark and remember the Holocaust. Established in 1951 by the Israeli Parliament (Knesset), the date was chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising and with the liberation of the concentration camps in Western Europe.
As BC citizens we are proud that the Province of BC has declared that Yom HaShoah, is Holocaust Memorial Day throughout British Columbia.
In 2003, The House of Commons established Holocaust Memorial Day as an official day of commemoration in Canada; the day is marked in perpetuity.
