On Sunday, April 2, 2:00 pm, the Peretz Centre will present a recital by pianist Robert Silverman. Silverman will perform works by Beethoven and Chopin, and will be joined by wife Ellen for four-hand-piano pieces by Mozart and Moszkowski.
In a career spanning more than five decades, Robert Silverman has performed in concert halls throughout North America, Europe, the Far East and Australia. He was a faculty member at the University of British Columbia for thirty years, served a 5-year term as Director of the School of Music in the 1990s, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters in 2004. He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2013.
Ellen Silverman has concertized throughout North America, including New York, Pittsburgh, Rochester, Syracuse and Milwaukee. She has performed often in Vancouver as soloist and chamber player and has been heard on the CBC in both capacities.
This is the eighth, and final concert this season, in the Sid and Sarah Sarkin series of concerts featuring local Jewish musicians, made possible by a bequest from the Sarkin estate.
