With Brad Marsden • Gitksan Nation, BC
In this interactive multi-media workshop, participants learn about the long-lasting impacts of Residential Schools in Canada and the intergenerational trauma caused by it. Weaving the history of systematic oppression of Indigenous people together with his personal story, Brad offers powerful insight into ways to reconcile with the past for those who suffered directly within the system, as well as for members of the second and third generations affected by intergenerational trauma. Brad bridges the story of his people with broader themes of racism and persecution.
I was deeply moved by Brad’s workshop. I learned so much more than what I imagined, especially through the interactive circle exercise. There is a close relationship between the children of the Residential Schools and the children of the Holocaust and the families affected by it. I think every Canadian and every person who has a connection to the Holocaust should attend Brad’s outstanding workshop.
