At the Peretz Centre we honour our ancestral Shabbes traditions with candles, wine, challah, readings and singing, followed by a pot luck supper and guest speaker. March's guest: Prof. Derek Carr; topic: 1492.
"1492 has acquired a particular symbolism for our modern-day Jewish communities. Yet it was neither the first nor the last of such expulsions in medieval and early-modern Europe. This presentation will hopefully lead to some interesting discussion of why 1492 has acquired such significance in Jewish history."
Admission: contribution to pot luck or $15.00. RSVP required: 604-873-3243.
