Fraser-Valley(1).jpgWith many young Jewish families seeking lower housing prices farther and farther east from the City of Vancouver, the Jewish population of the Fraser Valley has grown significantly over the 2010s. Connect Me In programs in the area include a supplemental Hebrew school program for children and youth, teen programs, seniors’ events, and holiday celebrations.

Though notable growth of the Jewish community here is relatively recent, Jews have lived in the Fraser Valley for well over 100 years.

Past Program Highlights

  • Welcoming Shabbat in Maple Ridge - August 2017

With a welcome from Dan Ruimy, MP for Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge; blessings and Kiddush by local community members; and music by an Israeli musician, this was a Shabbat to remember. Children and teens had a great time doing activities led by our shinshinim (teen volunteer emissaries from Israel), Maya and Diana.

  • Shabbrunch - May 2017

What do you get when you cross Shabbat and brunch? Why, Shabbrunch, of course. This casual, come-as-you-are potluck Kiddush and talk took place in Mission. This particular Shabbrunch was primarily for adults, but others have welcomed families. Either way, Shabbrunch is always a hit.
