Volunteer Leadership Profile - Pam Wolfman

P2G Committee Chair, Yom Ha’atzmaut Committee Chair

Pam Wolfman has been volunteering in the Jewish community for almost 30 years, over 20 of those years with Jewish Federation. After several years working with our overseas exchange programs, she joined Jewish Federation’s Partnership2Gether (P2G) and Israel and Overseas Affairs committees (IOAC). Now, Pam wears multiple hats as she serves Vancouver’s Jewish community, including roles as chair of the P2G and Yom Ha’atzmaut committees.

Role as P2G Committee Chair
Jewish Federation’s P2G committee oversees local gesher chai programs, which build Jewish identity and unity through Canadian-Israeli connections. As the committee chair, Pam provides leadership to the committee as they assess community need, and generate allocation recommendations for informal educational programs and exchanges that build deep and meaningful connections between Canadians and Galilee Panhandle residents.

“I love what P2G is able to do,” Pam shares. “The relationships it creates between different people and agencies—the JCC, schools, educators, folk dancers, athletes and all of the different people involved—keeps this community exciting and ensures a vibrant Jewish community for my family.”

Role as Yom Ha’atzmaut Committee Chair
As the new chair of Jewish Federation’s Yom Ha’atzmaut committee, Pam oversees the committee as they attend to the array of event-planning details that help make Vancouver’s largest Jewish celebration a true community-building event. The committee is invested in honouring Israel’s Independence Day appropriately, and Pam’s job is to make sure the event goes off without a hitch (no pressure, Pam!).

Building Connections at Home
Aside from the international relationships Pam helps facilitate with our partners in Israel, she enjoys the strong personal connections that volunteering for Jewish Federation has helped her to establish. “I’ve found that working toward a common goal with people who share your values and interests really helps make strong interpersonal connections. My best friends and support systems are people I’ve met through volunteering in this wonderfully vibrant Jewish community.”
